In recent times we launched an Insect Hotel in in our
schoolyard. The insect hotel gives friendly bugs a home. It provides nesting
and hibernation for beneficial insects such as ladybirds, caterpillar, flies
& spiders.
These insects control the populations of harmful insects, like
greenfly, on plants in the garden. They also help to pollinate our plants. The
insects can move about into different rooms in the Insect Hotel. The insects in
the hotel will feed on pests and pollen on flowers, bushes and trees in
surrounding areas.
It is great fun investigating the Insect Hotel!
