Green-Schools Irish Water Poster Competition 2016

This year's Green-Schools Irish Water Poster Competition 2016 invites individual students to design a poster which best illustrates the theme 'Be water smart'.


The poster can be a combination of words and illustrations or just illustrations. The student may interpret the theme as they see fit.

The competition is being run by An Taisce Green-Schools in partnership with Irish Water and is being promoted to all schools currently participating in the Water theme of the Green-Schools programme.

Categories

There are 3 categories for entry:

1.    Junior Primary (Infants - 2nd class)

2.    Senior Primary (3rd - 6th class)

3.    Secondary School (1st - 6th year)

Regions

Regional winners will be selected from each category (a total of 12 regional winners). National winners will then be selected from the regional winners in each category (totalling three national winners). Regions are broken down as follows:

·         Dublin County: Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin, Fingal

·         Eastern/Midlands: Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Longford, Meath and Louth

·         Connaught/Ulster: Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway City and County, Mayo and Roscommon

·         Southern Region: Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Cork City and County, Kerry, Clare and Limerick

Prizes

·         Each of the 12 Regional winners will be awarded a tablet computer to the value of €250, (student prize).

·         Each of the three National Category winners will also receive €500 for their school - to be spent by the Green-Schools committee as they see fit.

·         Individual National winners will also receive a professionally mounted and framed version of their poster

Terms & Conditions

1.    Number of Entries: The maximum amount of entries permitted per school is 10 per category

2.    Poster Size: Posters must be single-sided and A3 in size.

3.    Personal Details: All competition entries must include the following information printed clearly on the reverse of each poster: A: Student’s Name; B: Class/Year; C: Age; D: Name of School.

4.    Postal Address: Entries should be submitted by post to the following address: Green-Schools Irish Water Poster Competition, An Taisce EEU,
5a Swift’s Alley, Francis St, Dublin 8

5.    Closing Date: Entries must be received at the above address by 4pm Friday 12th February 2016.

6.    School’s Details: Entries should be accompanied by contact details for the Green-Schools coordinator (name, phone number and email address) for correspondence purposes.

7.    Notification: Competition winners will be notified within 30 days of the close of the competition by either post /telephone/email.

8.    Judging: An independent panel of judges will select the winning entries. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

9.    Returns: An Taisce is unable to return any entries to schools.

10.  Publicity: Winners may be asked to take part in competition publicity including being photographed by the media.

11.  Entry to the competition constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
